Principals Welcome

Tēnā koutou, tēnā koutou, tēnā koutou katoa. Ngā mihi nui ki a koutou katoa.

Hello and a very warm welcome to Manukorihi Intermediate School. We are a smaller intermediate with the biggest heart, nestled on a historical site, overlooking the beautiful awa, moana and Waitara township.

Our SOAR values and PB4L programme underpin all that we do.  This ensures we cater for the numerous needs of our emerging adolescents during such an important time in their lives.  We challenge them in ways that extend their thinking and help them as they begin to identify who they are and where they fit in this world.

Our staff and students are friendly and there is a strong feeling of manaakitanga and whanautanga from all who contribute to and are a part of our school and wider community.

We believe that Manukorihi Intermediate School has many attributes for future students and their families to consider.  We work tirelessly to provide the best possible opportunities, experience and outcomes for our students.  From every experience provided we want our students to make memories which will help them consolidate and master their learning, regardless of curriculum area or kaiako delivering it.

Intermediate schooling experiences are ones that are filled with excitement, risk taking, problem solving, resilience, and challenges, but ultimately a lot of fun!  Adolescence is a time where our students undertake many social, emotional, physical and intellectual changes.  Here at Manukorihi Intermediate we value teaching and learning.  We have a big job in order to show every student that they are valuable and loved and that learning is exciting, powerful and has the ability to open up every closed door our students may be faced with.  We also must give our students the tools to be able to be change makers in a world that is ever evolving.

We also want our students to have a positive view of themselves and as we value wellbeing as much as educational needs, we run specialist learning and intervention programmes to ensure that we cater for the variety of needs our students bring with them.

As we are a smaller intermediate school we are able to foster reciprocal and respectful relationships between our staff and students across our entire school.  These genuine relationships allow us to work on developing the whole child and supporting them throughout what can be a challenging and tumultuous time for our students.

We pride ourselves on our open door policy for our school community and we welcome you to come in and visit us at any time.
